Deceased Identification (DI)

Deceased Identification

Deceased identification (DI) enables you to identify deceased individuals and households on your file for the purposes of suppression.

Suppressing nursing homes ensures that your mail is not being delivered to a deceased individual or household.

Where does the data come from?

The DI incorporates data from the following sources:

  • Online obituaries
  • Funeral homes

How often is the data updated?

The source data is updated every hour.

How does it work?

When you process your file, you will automatically see the warning for the number of records found on your file that contain the following value:

  • deceased
    • NULL (blank) = no match
    • I = Individual
    • H = Household

What does it cost?

Based on the number of records in your file, the cost per file is as follows:

  1. Less than 1 million = $5
  2. More than 1 million = $10

You may also purchase an annual subscription to the service for $800.

If you are looking for the date of deceased, birth date/age, and obituary link, you can process your file through TrueDeceased - https://truedeceased.com

How do I use it?

Remove all records that are coded with deceased = NULL (blank).  This will ensure that you are not mailing to those individuals.

Is this available through the API?

Yes!  We have made this available through the API, see the updated documentation on the Deceased Identification (DI) here:  https://truencoa.com/api
