Nursing Home Identification (NHI)

Nursing Home Identification

Nursing home identification (NHI) enables you to identify nursing home addresses on your file for the purposes of suppression.

Suppressing nursing homes ensures that your mail is not being delivered to a resident of any private or  public skilled care facility, intermediate care facility, sheltered care facility, intermediate care facility for the developmentally disabled, or community living facility.

Where does the data come from?

The NHI incorporates data from the following sources:

  • U.S Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services
  • NIH National Institute on Aging

How often is the data updated?

The source data is updated on the first of each month.

How does it work?

When you process your file, you will automatically see the warning for the number of records found on your file that contain the following value:

  • nursing_home = 1/0 (boolean 1=Yes,0=No)

What does it cost?

Based on the number of records in your file, the cost per file is as follows:

  1. Less than 1 million = $5
  2. More than 1 million = $10

You may also purchase an annual subscription to the service for $800.

How do I use it?

Remove all records that are not coded with nursing_home=1.  This will ensure that you are not mailing to those addresses matched to the nursing home list.

Is this available through the API?

Yes!  We have made this available through the API, see the updated documentation on the Nursing Home Identification (NHI) here:  https://truencoa.com/api
