NCOA improves deliverability rates for your mail campaigns, but it also helps you save money too.

The U.S. Census Bureau estimates that nearly 12% of Americans move every year. That means a significant portion of your address records will become inactive in any year, which translates into decreased delivery rates. If you send mail to 1,000 contacts, then 120 of your mail pieces won’t be delivered to the intended recipient.

NCOA services improve delivery rates in three important ways.

  1.  They provide new addresses for moves within the last 18 months. Having an updated mailing address helps you ensure more of your mail pieces reach their recipient.
  2.  They identify moves within the last 19-48 months. You won’t get new addresses for these moves, but this helps you avoid sending mail to a vacant, invalid, or just plain wrong addresses.
  3.  NCOA standardizes all of your addresses to meet USPS mail standards. This makes it easier for the post office to deliver the mail.

Mailers who claim presorted or automation prices for First-Class Mail® or Standard Mail® service must demonstrate that they have updated their mailing list within 95 days before the mailing date.

Periodically, USPS matches a mailer's address records with change-of-address orders received and maintained by the Postal Service™.

Non-compliance penalties and wasted postage can cost non-profit mailers as much as $0.44 per piece!
